Job Description

The Role

Award-winning animal charity, Pet Blood Bank UK, is recruiting for the position of Area Supervisor. As we continue to expand our services to the veterinary industry, we are recruiting for a dynamic, forward-thinking, personable team member to work with our Veterinary Manager and existing Area Supervisor in the South to deliver our overall strategy. You will oversee our teams and drive forward all areas of our existing donation sessions, while working on opportunities for growth. The position available covers our North Area (North West/East, and Central Scotland), candidates must be based within this area and able to travel.

Launched in 2007, Pet Blood Bank UK is the only charity that provides a blood bank service for all vets across the UK. As part of our charitable remit, our aim is to advance animal health and welfare and to relieve suffering by providing quick and convenient access to blood. Every unit of blood helps save up to four other lives, saving thousands of lives every year.

What you’ll do

 

  • Manage our permanent employees and supervise members of our regional collection teams, ensuring all achieve and strive to exceed their key performance indicators.
  • Ensure compliance to all internal standard operating procedures and external licence requirements.
  • Manage rotas for your area to ensure all donation sessions are staffed appropriately whilst working with our training department to ensure all staff maintain their required training.
  • Build strong cross-department working relationships to enable delivery on individual and team objectives, while supporting the wider growth of Pet Blood Bank.
  • Champion customer care and positive experiences wherever you or our team members interact with the public or professionals while representing Pet Blood Bank.
  • Attend donation sessions and events, coordinate all aspects to ensure the most efficient and successful outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively across varying audiences, provide written and verbal reports, presentations, and feedback.
  • Maintain an awareness of budgets and expenditure to ensure the charity’s funds are used sustainably and responsibly.

 

What we need

 

This role is critical in the success, growth, and development of our collection department while delivering to a high standard the diverse activities they undertake. The success of our donation sessions is vital to the supply and quality of our blood products. The ideal candidate will be a highly organised, outgoing person with a recognised management qualification or proven background in leadership and positive team motivation skills. 

We’re looking for someone who has:

 

  • A pro-active, positive, problem-solving attitude, with a great attention to detail.
  • Flexibility with exceptional talent to prioritise work and manage their own time/workload.
  • Strong communication skills across various medias with different people, including press, professionals, pet owning public and peers.
  • Capability to implement and adhere to set procedures with a skill to deliver change effectively and in a positive manner.
  • Ability to travel across all regions within and outside their area, and where required PBB locations.

Further details

 

This role is part-time working 25 hours per week. Due to the nature of the role, a flexible approach to working hours is essential and will include some weekends and occasional evenings. Hours will be discussed at interview but crossover days with the opposing Area Supervisor and working hours to allow the appropriate line management of team members will be necessary.
