Veterinary Nurse

Competitive salary- £26,000-£31,000

This is an exciting opportunity to join the BEST vets in Lincoln! Our expanding independent small animal hospital in Lincoln are looking for an RVN or final year nursing student to join our wonderful team. We are having a baby boom within our nursing team currently so this will be a 12 month maternity contract with the possibility of extension/permanency in future.

Our busy small animal hospital requires a caring, enthusiastic and versatile RVN to join our friendly dynamic team. We are proudly independent, 100% small animal hospital in a purpose-built premises supported by our branch practice at Skellingthorpe. The successful applicant will be an addition to our existing team of highly skilled, passionate nurses who are supported and led by our Head Nurses. We are a training practice so have brilliant students within our nursing team, which comes with the opportunity to be a clinical coach. We are also supported by kennel assistants who help us bring the highest standard of nursing care to our patients.

Our nurses work 38 hours per week Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am and 7pm. 1 in 7 Saturday mornings are also required 8am-1pm, when you work a Saturday morning you get the following Friday off. Weekday shift times vary, we try to be as flexible and accommodating as we can be to our nurses lifestyles and some nurses choose to work longer days with full days off in the week, other nurses prefer to work shorter hours each day.

We use vets now from 7pm-8am Monday-Friday and from 12pm Saturday-8am Monday to cover our OOH emergencies. We do have separate night nurses looking after our inpatients from the day and any post-surgery cases on site, these are sleeping night shifts with 4 hourly inpatient checks. Our day nurses cover these nights for annual leave and sickness, these shifts are allocated evenly.

Duties include in-patient care, performing nurse clinics, lab work, dispensary tasks, assisting vets during examinations and surgeries to include monitoring anaesthetics, radiography, maintaining high standards of practice cleanliness and equipment care.
