VetNurse Jobs VetNurse Jobs has published the results of a survey of veterinary employers which asked what they are looking for in an ideal veterinary nurse job applicant.

73 employers took part in the survey, which concluded that when it comes to increasing your chances of a successful job application:

  • Best to make initial contact both by e-mail and by traditional letter.
  • Whilst clinical skills and experience were most valued by employers, showing that you are, above all, a caring and empathetic person with a likeable nature and good communication skills may outweigh a lack of experience.
  • When it comes to making your CV stand out, previous work experience needs to leap off the page. But if yours is limited, a well-presented CV with an engaging personal statement and no spelling mistakes can go a long way.

Many survey respondents also shared their own tips and advice about how you can increase your chance of a successful application with them.
