I invited Marc Abraham to come and answer some of the concerns raised on VetSurgeon about the ITV Pets Undercover programme.
His PR agency has instead pointed me in the direction of a response he has posted on his own website this morning. Click the link below.

PS: Whilst you're here, take a moment to see our latest job opportunities for vet nurses.
He was at crufts but yes. . think he should stay away from bsava!
I agree with all of you. I was thinking during the whole program that i would have to justify my measly salary to loads of clients the next day. Fortunatly the clients i see have brains (Yes there are a few!)and most of them are aware of clever editing and that we are a business, and not one of them discussed the program.
Marc still has to work with other vets and will have to face the responce which i think is his fate!
i wonder if he is going to bsava this year???? as i would not think that he will be getting a very warm reception
I too agree with certain points made in the programme, however it comes across as though all veterinary surgeries are out to scam their clients. This is very poor journalism indeed and all people responsible in the making of this programme should be aware of this. I think a follow up programme should be made to show the other side of the veterinary world (the hard working, dedicated side, the truthful side)and that way the trust can once again be established between client and veterinary practices. Then we may stop seeing animals suffering as a result of clients postponing the treatment because of fear bred by these ridiculous programmes.
I agree with Sal.
Well said Sal
my thoughts - a good job of highlighting problems which have occurred in a small minority of cases at the expense of performing a huge disservice to the majority of not only veterinary surgeons but also veterinary practices and their staff, and dare I say pets who may now not be presented for treatment when it is needed. I dont feel that editing is totally to blame, I do feel that somebody has got a little carried away with his own self importance?
In all probability these few moments of fame will soon pass, the public can be very fickle in their support and then all that will be left is the veterinary career - and alienating your fellow professionals is perhaps not the best way of protecting your future employment?
In my opinion this programme was one sided, and incorrectly portrayed the majority of the veterinary profession, the majority of us are hard working, honest individuals with the pets welfare and health as priority and do not see pound signs when owners walk through the door. I agree that the vets that do partake in this sort of 'money grabbing' behaviour should be disgraced, but it implied that we are all the same
WEll I have read his response, and although I agree with what he is trying to do ie weed out the vets who overcharge and take advantage, that certainly did not come across clear enough in the actual programme. What came across was that most vets are money grabbers, and ones who investigate illness on the information given by the owner, rather than sending someone on their way, are the culprits.
Quite frankly marc seems to feel he has done a good job when in fact he has caused so much damage to our profession!
